About LORC

About Ryukoku University Research Centre for the Local Public Human Resources and Policy Development (LORC)

Ryukoku University Research Centre for the Local Public Human Resources and Policy Development (LORC) was established in July 2011, with the objective of pursuing studies on local public policies as well on public human resources. LORC is the successor to and is built on the research outcomes produced by Ryukoku University Local Human Resources and Public Policy Development System Open Research Centre, which was established in 2003 (period of activity: FY2003-FY2010).

Presently, LORC is pursuing internationally collaborative research into the nature of the institutional infrastructures and public human resources which are necessary to establish a sustainable regional society in today's "Era of Depopulation." LORC is making its efforts, from multiple perspectives, to bridge theory and practice so that its research outcomes lead to the realization of a vibrant and dynamic civil society. Simultaneously, LORC actively disseminates its research outcomes through, inter alia, convening international symposia.
